Collaboration is always at the forefront of our minds here at 3Space, and we often look to other enterprises working within the sharing economy for inspiration on how we can best share our resources. One organisation that we’ve long admired are Zipcar, which if why we’re delighted to announce our newly formed partnership! All 3Space member organisations are now eligible for a FREE 1 year Zipcar for business account (normally £99 ex VAT) and one free driver (£10 each). To get the wheels in motion Zipcar will also give each account £12.50 driving credit to use for a test drive or towards your first booking! With a Zipcar for business account you can add as many drivers as you need and have access to a fleet of over 1,500 vehicles across London.

For the last few weeks, our Blackfriars Hub has hosted Mind in Camden’s Voice Collective project, a series of creative workshops young people and their parents/carers can access support and information.

"Around 8% of children and young people hear voices or see things that other people don’t. It’s much more common than many people think. Voice Collective is a Mind in Camden project that works in partnership with youth services across Greater London to help ensure that these children, young people and families get the best support possible."

You can find out more about this project on the Mind in Camden website or the dedicated Voice Collective site. We’re looking forward to hosting the group again in the future!

Did you miss our Re:THINK Festival back in May? One of the highlights for us was the fantastic site-specific art project 21 Artists, organised and curated by Meg Peterson. Over 21 days,  a mix of innovate, experimental and socially-driven artists from a wide range of disciplines, cultures and ages were featured daily, creating work in our Blackfriars Hub based around the theme of transformation. Video artist Pablo Robertson created this wonderful video documenting the project - enjoy!

Our friends over at This Big City have just launched their #Urbanism Tumblr campaign and we’re super excited to support it!
This Big City say:
Over 50% of the world’s population lives in cities. By 2050, this is widely expected to reach 70%. Cities are undergoing unprecedented change and urbanism is one of the most crucial issues of our time.
Here at This Big City we think the important and exciting issue of urbanism should be brought to the attention of Tumblr users by promoting the urbanism tag to featured status.
Featured tags are selected based on volume of content and engagement with content, which is why we need Tumblr’s fantastic urbanism community to support this campaign. Please reblog this post and add the urbanism tag whenever you share content related to the topic!
Together we can build an engaging catalogue of content on the crucial issue of urbanism, hopefully resulting in the promotion of the urbanism tag to featured status. If we achieve this, the crucial issue of urbanism will land in the dashboard of millions of Tumblr users across the globe.

Break for lunch? Get fit!

Last month we welcomed the fantastic GoodGym to 3Space Blackfriars.  Not only are we thrilled to be able to offer them a base for their operations for the next few months, but we’re very excited that they’re offering up their expertise too, holding free core fitness sessions for all our lucky Blackfriars users in the building every Monday lunchtime!  We love it when the fantastic non-profits in our hubs get to share their resources and can’t wait to head to our first session soon.

"I don’t mind" - an exhibition by Howard Sivills and Ferodo Bridges

On Friday 17th and Saturday 18th May 2013, the Library at 3Space Blackfriars played host to the fascinating “I don’t mind” exhibition as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Curated by Howard Sivills and Ferodo Bridges, in association with the Mental Health Foundation, the exhibition featured work from artists working in a variety of mediums from illustration to performance, all of which sought to draw attention to and break down the stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness.

One of our other Blackfriars hub members Pod Academy also recorded a podcast to accompany the exhibition, which can be found here.
